    Position Overview

    Working under the supervision of the paired Exercise Physiologist, this position/internship is responsible for working up to administering and monitoring 12-lead Cardiopulmonary Metabolic Exercise Testing (CMET) and Pulmonary Functions Testing (PFT) in a field setting following Frontera protocols. Interns should have a general knowledge of 12-lead Electrocardiograms (ECG's) and Metabolic testing (VO2max). The candidate must also be able to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal social skills to communicate with providers and patients, and interact and adapt with professionalism to different circumstances and people.  Interns are required to assist Exercise Physiologist in patient care, and progress to full testing abilities. 


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Clinical Excellence
      • Complete ECG's, Pulmonary Function Tests, and other Metabolic Analysis on patients while following protocols in the Standard Operating Procedures manual
      • Follow HIPAA standards and Frontera Policy when handling and transferring confidential patient data
      • Assist in maintaining clinical equipment in compliance to Frontera standards

    • Education: Degree in progress in Exercise Physiology, or related field, from an accredited University or College (Master's preferred)
    • Experience: Patient care
    • Knowledge in reading 12-lead ECG's and appropriate indications for exercise testing
    • Knowledge of Oxygen Consumption (VO2) as a cardiac/circulatory measure
    • Knowledge of the benefits of gas exchange and Anaerobic Threshold (AT)
    • Ability to define challenges, analyze problems, and develop and implement solutions in a proactive and positive manner. Ability to work independently and follow company protocols
    • A valid driver's license to operate a vehicle for transportation of equipment along with an acceptable driving record
    • Primary duties performed at client's locations requiring travel by automobile with exposure to changing weather conditions
    • Position requires the ability to constantly communicate verbally and electronically. Position also requires frequent walking, standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving equipment into and out of client's offices are a daily part of the essential job requirements necessary to perform diagnostic testing on patients. Equipment of significant weight up to 225 per equipment piece is supported on a card and wheels. The ability to manipulate the equipment into and out of the company van is required. The motions necessary to perform this task require two to three trips between the office and van used to transport the equipment. Daily duties also require the use of a computer and other equipment that must use the fingers and hands to feel and grasp.
    • Some days require traveling to a single practice, while other days require serving two or more a day.
    • The testing location/practice is typically outlined for the month; however, priority 1/PRN practices may be added to the schedule last minute
