    Position Overview

    Working under the supervision of the CEO, the Controller is responsible for directing Practice Management activities for Frontera to include planning, organizing, and controlling business office operations. This involves decision-making, financial performance within the billing office, compliance with coding while ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness within the department. The Controller will have responsibility to improve the revenue cycle process / management, prepare detailed financial analysis, supervise assigned personnel and interact with the company’s clients. Working with the CEO, Leadership Team and Partners to ensure the company is managed according to established standards is essential to ensuring success.

     

    In addition to the billing office responsibilities, the Controller oversees all activities connected to the company’s financials including but not limited to payroll and account receivables (paying bills, posting deposits and running financial reports). The Controller must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform all job related activities as outlined below.

    Responsibilities

    • Building a strong finance-accounting infrastructure.
    • Implementing and managing revenue process (billing, posting, A/R).
    • Managing funding initiatives and provide accurate growth projections.
    • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A degree of certainty and latitude is expected.
    • Manage and oversee the daily billing office administration functions, which includes insurance verifications, billing, payment posting, appealing denials, negotiating discounts and settlements and ordering business office supplies.
    • Develop, review, revise, submit and implement policies, procedures and objectives for each position in the billing office which are complimentary to company objectives.
    • Interview, select, train, supervise, evaluate, counsel, and recommend termination of assigned employees.
    • Supervise entry of charges, procedure codes, payments, and patient demographic information.
    • Coordinate Accounts Receivable Management to ensure maximum reimbursement. Provide management with accurate, timely monthly reports and statistical analysis. Reports may include average reimbursements trends per payer by Insurance, Fee for Service, Global and patient payments.
    • Provide financial analysis including but not limited to monthly financial packet, A/R reports, revenue per test, financials by market.
    • Provide strategic recommendations, based on financial data available.
    • Supervise maintenance of patient medical records and files.
    • Keep up with HIPAA compliance requirements and make sure company is always in compliance.
    • Constantly evaluate support tools and methodologies that will improve efficiency.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of business.  CPA certification is preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in related Healthcare environment.
    • Leadership Experience: 3 plus years managing employees in a health care service organization, preferably in an ancillary environment.
    • Experience working in a high volume, multi-service environment.
    • Experience dealing with commercial payers and Medicare.
    • In-depth knowledge of medical billing and coding including ICD-10.
    • Experience negotiating insurance contracts.
    • Ability to mentor and develop staff.
    • Ability to define challenges, analyze problems, and develop and implement solutions in a proactive and positive manner.
    • High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities making sound decisions.
    • Ability to work accurately under pressure to meet competing deadlines.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees of organization.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
